Job Title: Bioimaging Specialist (Fluorescence Microscopy)
Job Type: Contract
Location: Remote
Job Summary
Join our customer's team as a Bioimaging Specialist, focused on Cell Biology and fluorescence microscopy, to play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of AI-driven microscopy analysis. In this fully remote position, you’ll leverage your technical acumen and keen eye for detail to enhance the fidelity and accuracy of AI interpretations for complex cellular imagery.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and critique AI-generated fluorescence microscopy images to distinguish genuine biological signals from optical noise, such as bleed-through or background fluorescence.
- Evaluate the AI's accuracy in labeling subcellular structures, including organelles and protein localization, using confocal and super-resolution datasets.
- Verify metadata interpretation, such as hardware parameters (laser power, exposure time, objective lens), for consistency and scientific validity.
- Detect subtle image artifacts, photobleaching, and deconvolution issues impacting data quality.
- Complete structured feedback reports to clearly communicate technical assessments of AI performance and image fidelity.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams by providing actionable input to optimize the AI system’s analysis pipeline.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Expert-level command of fluorescence microscopy, with hands-on proficiency in confocal (CLSM/spinning disk) and/or super-resolution (STED/STORM) modalities.
- Strong background in bioimage informatics and quantitative analysis using tools such as Fiji/ImageJ, Imaris, or CellProfiler.
- Demonstrated excellence in visual assessment of complex microscopy datasets, identifying fine-scale artifacts and variations in signal-to-noise ratio.
- Experience in providing objective, constructive feedback on sample preparation and imaging quality.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate detailed technical findings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Master's equivalent experience in Cell Biology, Biophysics, Bioengineering, or a related discipline.
- Prior involvement in AI, machine learning, or automated image analysis initiatives.
- Published work or presentations in microscopy methods and/or cellular imaging analysis.
