Job Description
Job Title: Phonetics Expert
Job Type: Contract
Location: Remote
Job Summary: In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, transcribe, and annotate speech and linguistic data using phonetic principles and IPA notation.
- Support the development, testing, and evaluation of speech recognition and synthesis systems.
- Collaborate with linguists, engineers, and researchers to refine pronunciation databases and language resources.
- Assist in curating, organizing, and maintaining audio datasets for language technology projects.
- Contribute to the preparation of project documentation, reports, and training materials.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency in all phonetic transcriptions and annotations.
- Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with advancements in phonetics and language technology.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Phonetics, Applied Linguistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Solid understanding of phonetic theory, IPA, and speech sound classification.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to perform precise linguistic analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including clear, concise documentation abilities.
- Comfort working collaboratively in a remote, cross-functional team environment.
- Enthusiasm for learning new tools and techniques relevant to phonetics and language technology.
- Proficiency with productivity software and willingness to learn industry-specific tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with speech technology, such as ASR or TTS systems, is a plus.
- Familiarity with language data annotation tools or linguistic software.
- Previous internship, academic project, or coursework in computational linguistics or related area.
