Join our customer's team as an experienced COBOL Developer and play a key role in maintaining and enhancing their legacy systems. You will leverage your deep expertise in COBOL to ensure optimal functionality and stability of mission-critical applications. Key Responsibilities


  1. Develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL-based applications in alignment with customer requirements and industry best practices.
  2. Collaborate with business analysts and other developers to translate functional requirements into robust technical solutions.
  3. Conduct detailed code reviews and debugging, ensuring the highest level of quality and reliability.
  4. Identify and resolve issues within existing COBOL programs to improve performance and user experience.
  5. Document new and updated processes, workflows, and system changes with clarity and precision.
  6. Participate actively in team meetings, providing technical insights and progress updates.
  7. Contribute to the continuous improvement of software development processes and standards within the team.



Required Skills and Qualifications


  1. Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in COBOL development within enterprise environments.
  2. Strong knowledge of COBOL programming, including structured coding and debugging techniques.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  4. Proficiency in documenting technical information and system processes in a clear, concise manner.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a remote, cross-functional team.
  6. Keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  7. Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership in delivering quality solutions.



Preferred Qualifications


  1. Experience with mainframe environments and legacy systems integration.
  2. Familiarity with financial services, insurance, or similar verticals relying on COBOL-based infrastructure.
  3. Knowledge of complementary technologies such as JCL, CICS, or DB2.
