Job Description
Job Title: Senior Engineering Expert (Specialized Subdomain Expertise)
Job Type: Contract-based
Location: Remote
Job Summary
Join our customer’s team as a Senior Engineering Expert, leveraging your specialized subdomain expertise (structural, thermal, power systems, manufacturing/production systems, robotics/automation, etc.) to provide hands-on, client-facing technical leadership. In this advisory-driven role with micro1, you will solve complex engineering challenges, balancing real-world constraints and empowering clients to make informed, practical decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical advisor, evaluating and optimizing engineering designs within structural, thermal, power systems, or related subdomains.
- Analyze projects under conflicting constraints such as budget, timeline, safety, and performance, providing clear recommendations.
- Communicate engineering decisions, tradeoffs, and second-order effects to clients with clarity and confidence.
- Identify risks, anticipate challenges, and develop robust mitigation strategies for complex problems.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders to translate their needs into practical, actionable engineering solutions.
- Support the development and refinement of best practices and technical standards within your area of expertise.
- Promote innovation while ensuring practical, real-world feasibility in every recommendation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Deep technical mastery in a specialized engineering subdomain such as structural, thermal, power systems, manufacturing/production systems, or robotics/automation.
- Proven ability to balance competing project constraints—budget, timeline, safety, and technical requirements.
- Track record of making sound engineering decisions in complex, imperfect, and ambiguous contexts.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving acumen and risk assessment capabilities.
- Experience in client-facing roles, offering advisory and consultative value.
- Demonstrated ownership of projects from concept through implementation, not just theoretical design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with highly regulated or safety-critical industries.
- Published work or patents in your specialized subdomain.
