Job Summary:

Join our customer’s team as a Maori Bilingual Expert and make an impact by bridging cultures through language. In this dynamic remote role, you will leverage your bilingual proficiency to transcribe, analyze, and interpret Maori and English content, ensuring nuance and cultural richness are captured. This opportunity is ideal for those passionate about language, communication, and the preservation of Te Reo Maori.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Transcribe video content in Maori and English with precision, outlining clear timestamps.
  2. Describe and interpret the emotional tone and intent of the speaker within multimedia content.
  3. Analyze and document grammar, tone, and conceptual meanings in both languages.
  4. Collaborate with the team to deliver high-quality, insightful linguistic analysis and feedback.
  5. Perform complex language tasks, supporting language preservation and cross-cultural understanding.
  6. Ensure all transcriptions and analyses maintain strict confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.
  7. Contribute at least 15 hours per week to project work and collaborative meetings.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Fluent proficiency in both Maori and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  2. Demonstrated experience in transcription, translation, or linguistic analysis.
  3. Deep understanding of Maori language, culture, and contextual concepts.
  4. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to accurately capture meaning and tone.
  5. Ability to analyze language at a complex and conceptual level.
  6. Strong organizational and time management abilities; self-motivated in a remote setting.
  7. Committed to working a minimum of 15 hours per week.


Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Background in linguistics, translation studies, or a related field.
  2. Experience working on multimedia or language research projects.
  3. Active involvement in Te Reo Maori revitalization or community initiatives.
