Job Summary

Join our customer's team as a Telephone Operator, serving as the essential connection between callers and the information or assistance they need. This dynamic, remote position requires a detail-oriented individual who excels at written and verbal communication, demonstrates technical proficiency, and provides exceptional customer support through attentive and precise service.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Operate telephone switchboards and systems to initiate, advance, and complete various calls—including local, long distance, pay phone, mobile, person-to-person, and emergency connections.
  2. Observe signal lights on switchboards, efficiently dialing or pressing buttons to route calls and maintain seamless connections.
  3. Listen attentively to customer requests, referencing alphabetical or geographical directories to answer questions and deliver accurate telephone information.
  4. Suggest and verify alternate spellings, locations, or listing formats to customers with incomplete or unclear information.
  5. Update and maintain directory information, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for all users.
  6. Receive, document, and categorize information from multiple sources, compiling and verifying data as required.
  7. Utilize computer-aided dispatch software and handheld computer device software to process information and support operational efficiency.



Required Skills and Qualifications

  1. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Windows, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  2. Experience using computer-aided dispatch software and handheld computer device software.
  3. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.
  4. Strong attention to detail and the ability to process and document information accurately.
  5. Demonstrated ability to observe, receive, and interpret information from diverse sources.
  6. Comfortable working directly with the public and delivering professional customer service remotely.



Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience updating and verifying telephone directory information for large organizations.
  2. Background in a high-volume customer service or dispatch environment.
  3. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
