Job Summary:
Join our customer’s team as an Archivist and play a critical role in shaping how historical records and cultural assets are managed, preserved, and accessed. Leverage your expertise to simulate real-world archival scenarios and contribute to the development of advanced AI systems that support archival best practices. You will have the unique opportunity to influence the organization and accessibility of collections in diverse cultural, academic, and institutional settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize, classify, and maintain both physical and digital archival collections in accordance with industry standards.
- Develop and implement preservation strategies to safeguard historical and contemporary records.
- Research the provenance and significance of documents, authenticating and describing materials for cataloging purposes.
- Prepare detailed document descriptions and metadata to enhance the discoverability of archival resources.
- Establish and uphold policies for public access, ensuring user needs and confidentiality considerations are balanced.
- Provide expert reference support to researchers, staff, and the public, facilitating effective material retrieval.
- Contribute to the training of AI systems by simulating archival management scenarios and sharing domain expertise.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in archival management, records classification, or a related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency in both physical and digital archiving practices.
- Advanced knowledge of historical research, document authentication, and provenance studies.
- In-depth understanding of preservation methodologies for various media formats.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with a focus on clarity and detail.
- Experience preparing and managing descriptive records, catalogs, and metadata for archival materials.
- Ability to establish and interpret access policies while maintaining confidentiality and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting outreach, acquisitions, or educational initiatives related to archival collections.
- Familiarity with AI or technology-driven projects in the archival or library science sector.
- Advanced degree in Archival Science, Library Science, History, or a related discipline.
