Job Title: Software Engineer (Finance Team)


Job Type: Full-Time


Location: Remote

The Role:

We are looking for a Software Engineer to help design and build next-generation financial technology systems. This role sits at the intersection of product development, infrastructure, and applied engineering, focusing on creating reliable, scalable applications that deliver thoughtful user experiences.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Write, ship, and maintain production code daily across fullstack applications using Node.js, React.js, Next.js, and PostgreSQL.
  2. Build scalable backend services and RESTful APIs on AWS infrastructure.
  3. Implement responsive, maintainable frontend interfaces you should be equally comfortable debugging a React render issue and tuning a Postgres query.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn product requirements into shipped features.
  5. Uphold high standards for system reliability, security, and data integrity in financial systems.
  6. Actively contribute to CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
  7. Communicate clearly in code, documentation, and team discussions.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years of professional software development experience, with active hands-on coding in the last 12 months across both frontend and backend.
  2. Strong, recent backend development experience with Node.js (please share what you have shipped in the last year).
  3. Recent, advanced frontend experience with React.js and Next.js — including hooks, state management, and modern Next.js features (App Router, SSR/ISR).
  4. Solid working knowledge of PostgreSQL: schema design, query optimization, indexing, and data modeling.
  5. Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and CloudWatch.
  6. Demonstrated experience designing and integrating REST APIs in production.
  7. Proficiency with Git, CI/CD workflows, and agile development.
  8. Clear written and verbal communication.


Preferred:

  1. Experience with Python.
  2. Experience building or maintaining financial or fintech systems.
  3. Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, GraphQL, Redis, and caching strategies.
  4. Experience with microservices and modern testing frameworks (Jest, PyTest, Cypress).


What This Role Is Not:

  1. A pure management or tech-lead role with no coding.
  2. A backend-only or frontend-only specialist position.
  3. A role for someone who has been out of hands-on development for more than a year.


Compensation & Benefits Notice

The national pay range for this full-time position is base salary of $140,000 –$160,000 USD. All employees are eligible for equity compensation, and employees may also receive performance-based bonuses, dependent on role and subject to company policies. micro1 provides a comprehensive benefits package, including up to 100% reimbursement for health-insurance premiums, paid time off, a 401(K) plan with a company match, and additional benefits designed to support a high-performing, remote-first workforce.
